SnoCap Caucus Meeting, June 21, 2010

Board Members in Attendance:  Kathy DeWolfe, Frieda Wallison, Ken Smith, Barbara Sullan,

(No quorum)

The meeting was called to order by Frieda at 7:10 pm

I. Pitco Kitchen Table Meetings
Steve and Frieda hosted meetings at their homes which were requested by the County to receive input from residents on the formation of a 10 year vision plan. Commissioner Jack Hatfield and Nan Sundeen, with Health and Human Services, chaired the meetings. Several Caucus Board members attended, as well as residents.

II. Code Provision Committee Update
At the last meeting with the County, Holly and Jan reported that the County staff was in favor of expanding the square footage of buildings. However, the County was also considering excluding horses from the definition of livestock. The P&Z has a hearing scheduled for July 15 to further discuss these topics.

III. Weed Management Program
Steve reported that Jan, Patsy, Brother Raymond, Dwight Maurin and others attended a preliminary meeting with Crystal Yates-White to set up a weed control program in our area.
On July 17, from 9 to 12, there will be a volunteer weed control blitz on the monastery grounds. Participants can use manual or chemical means to clean up the weeds, and will learn how to identify and control various kinds of weeks. Patsy is also going to have a “Weed 101” class at her house. Some of the Caucus members asked if residents could purchase chemicals from the County that would be recommended for weed control, such as Escort and Milestone. There was also discussion about having a sub-committee of the Caucus set up to promote weed eradication programs in our area.
