In August of 2004 I bought my land on Capitol Creek Road and then spent a little over a year working with Doug Graybeal on a 100% solar and straw bale house. I built with Structural Associates and moved in from Westchester, PA full time by Jan. 2008. Of course my first winter here was a record breaker. I call it my trial by snow as I had over 400 inches... and I keep the last half mile of county road plowed in the winter. This past winter was not nearly as bad but mud season...
I am a Montessori teacher of 3 to 6 year olds. Currently I am on the board of Sopris Montessori in Carbondale and am looking forward to working with their classes. I have also written and published a children's book called "Storm Angels". Last year with the Aspen Elementary School's writing teacher, I used my book with the first through fourth graders to stimulate their memoir writing. They produced some wonderful pieces of writing.
I volunteer with Aspen Institute, Theatre Aspen and Komen Aspen. And I have been taking wood turning classes at Anderson Ranch. With all my spare time I hike from my front door and dance. The simple beauty here is what I love about the valley and I am looking forward to getting to know all my neighbors.
