As long as the weather permits and the ground is not frozen, continue to plant spring-blooming bulbs. Plant en masse to create more dramatic effects, or if space is limited, dig a trench at the proper depth for the specific bulb and plant a row along the driveway or sidewalk. Bright colors are always a welcoming beacon.
Remember, when planting new bulb beds, avoid scattering a fertilizer layer in the bottom of the planting site. Soluble salts will often burn the root tissues as they emerge. Instead, mix a slow release fertilizer into the soil when planting.
Sprinkle and lightly cultivate granular fertilizer into established bulb plantings. Water in well.
